Beverley graduated in Textile Design from Winchester School of Art in 2003 with a BA ( Hons) in Textile Design, specialising in weave.Having established a strong reputation, producing colour and texture samples for a client base including Donna Karan, Calvin Klein and GAP , she resurrected a lifelong love of jewellery and launched her own range.
Beverley initially discovered lampwork glass beads after trying to locate unusual beads for her jewellery designs and, in typical artistic spirit, set out to discover what was involved in making them.
Glass work now dominates her time and temporarily, she hopes, her textiles have taken a back seat. Beverley now concentrates exclusively on making lampwork glass beads which are used by other designers in their work or purchased by collectors.
Working from her studio in Southwater , West Sussex, her beads are inspired heavily by her textile background and,Beverley feels, reflect her love of colour, texture and movement. Using traditional methods , but state-of-the-art materials, she strives to experiment with new and exciting techniques and processes. Consequently, everything Beverley makes is a one-off or limited edition.
Beverley now also teaches lampwork classes to those who wish to find out more about this ancient art.
Beverley's work is currently sold exclusively through her website
www.beverleyhicklin.co.uk , and at selected events.
